`Migrant´ jade found in Germany

Jade Poem & Jade Pharmacy, two distinct conceptual directions emerged during this phase, both driven by a material-oriented approach to creation. The jade used in these works came from diverse sources—ranging from conventional market supplies to fragmented antique pieces and even synthetic jade in modern industrial contexts—reflecting the multifaceted complexity of jade within Asian cultural traditions.

 

Technically, the works combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary experimental methods: on one hand, employing age-old techniques such as metal inlay and gold/silver wire inlaying`HOPE´ (cuojinyin) to highlight jade’s historical significance; on the other, introducing interdisciplinary approaches like wrapping jade beads in marshmallow to evoke the imagery of “pills,” these methods aim to challenge conventional perceptions of jade, embedding it with new metaphors such as healing, illusion, or consumer symbolism. The series constitutes both a meditative exploration of materiality and an effort to reinterpret the cultural symbolism of jade through a contemporary lens.

这一系列坚持以“材料本身”作为观念出发点,聚焦玉石在文化、象征与物质性之间的多重角色。我所收集的玉石来源多样——既有来自市场流通的常规材料,也包括民间留存的老玉残件、甚至现代工业语境下的合成玉石,它们共同折射出亚洲玉石文化中传统与当代交织的复杂性。

在技法层面,我有意融合传统工艺与当代实验:一方面运用金属镶嵌、错金银等传统精细工艺,强调玉石作为珍贵物质的历史延续感;另一方面,则引入如以棉花糖包裹玉石制成“药丸”, 试图打破人们对玉的固有认知,赋予其诸如治愈、错觉或消费符号等新的隐喻。整个创作既是一场对材料的深入凝视,也是对玉的文化符号进行提纯与再叙述的尝试。
